Admin menu tour
One grant-filtered Admin button is the chrome entry. There is no peer Content|Layout strip and no structure drawer — open dialogs from this menu.
Open Admin
After login, look for Admin on the page. A first-run tip may say: open Admin → turn on Edit. Items appear only if you have the grant.
Menu items
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Edit | Content mode — click fields on this page to change text, images, and field values. Second click turns it off; switching to Layout clears Edit. Save each field; a local draft banner appears if the network fails. |
| Layout | Compose mode — exclusive with Edit. Add, reorder, move, or remove widgets in page regions. Second click turns it off. Site chrome (header/nav) is not on the page canvas. |
| Nav | Menu tree dialog (patch_nav) — not raw widget config. |
| Pages | Site map — create/rename pages, visibility, open a page. |
| Entities | Field schema for listings (add fields, labels, options). Site-wide — every widget using that entity is affected. Also: Layout → listing bar → Edit schema. |
| Site | Name, tagline, live flag, Enable grants, and Packs & capabilities. |
| Page visibility | Who can view this page (Public / Editors / Admin). |
| LLM chat | Assistant modal — same Toolbox tools as the CLI. |
| Checkpoint / backup | Rolling checkpoints (DB + user CSS) and SitePack ZIP export/restore. |
| Help (?) | Short in-chrome primer (Edit, Layout, packs, key, ask-before-apply). |
Mental model
- Stay on the public URL — structure opens as dialogs over the page.
- Edit = content; Layout = compose sections (exclusive toggles); Nav / Pages / Site = structure; Entities = record field schema (not per-widget).
- Packs: Admin → Site → Packs & capabilities (Install & enable / Enable). Quiet chips in the edit session rediscover the same list.
- Checkpoints are not the same as Assistant Undo — see Checkpoint & backup.
